Description
This is a very special one of a kind Witches Broom/Besom.
This is a full size, totally useable broom, as practical as it is beautiful.
She started her life in France, where they still make brooms in the traditional way. I've given her a beautiful quartz crystal point top, and inscribed the symbol of the triple moon on to her shaft with pyrography. She's been decorated with magical ribbons trailing down, and bronze toned charms with a pentacle, sun and moon.
The besom/ broom is the quintessential symbol of the witch. This full size version can be used to ritually sweep your altar to prepare for workings, to invoke the powers of “spring cleaning”, ushering in positivity and sweeping away negative energies. Brooms are associated with oaths, and "jumping the broom" was a traditional method of sealing an oath - often used in wedding rites to consecrate a "year and a day" commitment (at the end of which the couple could choose to part, or commit to a handfasting).
The straws from a witches' broom are also used as a spell component in spells related to oaths, promises and protectiction. A broom at the door is thought to ward off ill omens - if it falls over suddenly, some see this as a sign a visitor is about to appear.
This photo is representative - these pieces are hand-crafted and no two are exactly alike. Additional photos of a similar broom have been added to this listing to show you the size/scale.
