Description
Brigid’s Cross Long before she was Christianised into “Saint Brigid” the goddess Brigid was regarded as the bringer of spring. She is known as, Bride, Bridey, Brighid, Brigit, Brede, Briggidda & Brigantia, and is one of the most significant Celtic deities. The festival of Imbolc/Imbolg occurs at the cross point between midwinter and the spring equinox, and to represent this, crosses are woven from rushes and straw.
This has been hand-made from oaten straw and bound with green silken threads.
