Associations and Lore regarding Bastet are extremely varied. As the daughter of Ra, the sun God, Bastet is associated with the All Seeing Eye and the Eye of Ra. Originally depicted as a women with a lion's head, over the years her fearsome iconography changed over time with her becoming more gentle. While strongly venerated she was equally feared sometimes called 'Lady of Slaughter and Dread'. She is sometimes linked called the divine cat, which is an aspect of Ra, as well as the feline goddess of justice.
