Do you feel like no matter how hard you work, you can't get anything done?
This is one of the most common signs of burnout.
Burnout can make everything feel pointless and exhausting. You might be feeling cynical or irritable; your find yourself getting in fights with the people you love; your patience for details disappears; and even routine tasks seem overwhelming.
When we feel this way, we often turn away from self-care activities that we KNOW would give us back some energy - taking time for yourself in the morning before work, meditating after dinner, or even just reading a book.
All of these things take more effort than they used to because our minds are so tired and over it.
It can feel strange or indulgent to take time for yourself in the morning when you could be checking emails, making lunches, or even just doing laundry before getting started on a full day.
The end result is that self-care rituals - which are supposed to help us recharge and feel more connected - become even harder to actually do.
It can be ironic that, when we're feeling burned out, the last thing we want to do is take time to take care of ourselves.
